Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

Trauma ingrains itself in the memory, and those who have experienced it find themselves carrying it for much too long. EMDR is uniquely useful for taking away the weight from those traumatic memories through the use of eye movements, rhythmic tapping and low audio cues. Through engaging the brain with the memory and with physical stimuli at the same time, the painful emotions associated with those memories can be removed. EMDR can be used for a number of other distressing experiences, including anxiety, depression and panic disorders.
